Anyone Reluctant to Lead Needs to Hear This Excellent Quote from ‘Dune’
It will make you less scared
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune has been the talk of the town since its premiere in early September. As a hardcore movie fan, this one is on my must-watch list. Besides the excellent music by Hans Zimmer, beautiful cinematography, and wonderful actors, what struck me the most about Dune is an inspirational line said by the protagonist’s father, Leto Atreides, played by the amazing Oscar Issac:
“A great man doesn’t seek to lead. He’s called to it. And he answers.”
This quote could not come at a better time for me.
At the beginning of October, I was promoted to Content Team Lead at my company. As someone comfortable being given tasks and dread taking the wheel, accepting this responsibility meant running away from my comfort zone until it catches up to me.
I was and still am scared, unconfident, and anxious. I don’t think I am capable enough to guide anyone. I am uncertain of the path I’m taking and unclear of what I have to do most of the time, let alone being sure of what others must do.
